Vacheron Constantin

Overseas

41mm

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas occupies a distinguished position in the luxury sports watch hierarchy — less commercially recognised than the Nautilus or Royal Oak, but technically and artistically their equal, and produced by a manufacture with a longer continuous history than either. Vacheron Constantin has been producing watches without interruption since 1755 — making it the world's oldest watch manufacturer. The Overseas (current third generation) debuted in 2016 and immediately established itself as the most refined sports watch in its category. Its distinctive 41mm round case with octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet draws clear inspiration from the Gérald Genta tradition, but the execution is pure Vacheron: every surface is finished to their Maison's standard, and each watch comes with three interchangeable straps (metal bracelet, alligator leather, and rubber), all included in the retail price. References include the Overseas 4500V (time and date), Overseas 7900V (moonphase), and Overseas 4510V (dual time zone). The Calibre 5100, 5200, and 5110 movements powering these references are certified by Hallmark of Geneva, equivalent in prestige to Patek's Geneva Seal. Pre-owned Overseas pieces offer exceptional value relative to the manufacturing quality they represent.

Buying Guide

How to buy a pre-owned Overseas

01

Overseas is exceptional value vs Nautilus and Royal Oak

Pre-owned Overseas trades 30–50% below comparable Nautilus or Royal Oak references. Build quality is comparable; cultural recognition is lower. For collectors who prioritise watchmaking quality over peer recognition, the Overseas is among the best values in luxury sports watches.

02

Verify all three straps are present

Every Overseas ships with three straps: integrated bracelet, alligator leather, and rubber. Replacement straps are expensive ($800–$2,500) and sometimes back-ordered. Confirm complete strap set when buying pre-owned.

03

Hallmark of Geneva is meaningful

Most modern Overseas movements are certified by the Hallmark of Geneva — confirming movement assembly, decoration, and accuracy to standards stricter than COSC. Verify the Hallmark is present on the movement (visible through the display caseback).

Sizing

Will the Overseas fit your wrist?

Overseas 41 (47.7mm lug-to-lug) fits wrists 6.5" and up comfortably. The integrated bracelet drapes well due to refined link construction. The 11.0mm thickness is slim for a sports-luxury watch. Chronograph 5500V at 42.5mm and 11.6mm thick wears slightly larger. The interchangeable strap system lets you adapt the watch to different occasions.
