The Patrimony and Traditionnelle are Vacheron Constantin's two great dress watch lines, and the choice between them is the defining decision for any VC dress-watch buyer. The Patrimony is the modernist statement: a perfectly minimalist round case with no fluting, no ornamentation, just clean geometry and an elegantly proportioned dial. It's the Vacheron equivalent of a Bauhaus design. The Traditionnelle is the classical statement: fluted case sides, fluted bezel, applied gold indices and (in larger references) a sub-seconds dial layout. It's the Vacheron equivalent of a Beaux-Arts design. Both bear the Geneva Seal. Both use in-house Vacheron Constantin movements (Calibre 4400 AS family for the time-only references). The price difference reflects the Traditionnelle's more elaborate case finishing (the fluted sides require additional hand-work) and slightly more complex dial.
